Introduction

Ibec's Environment Policy team works with and coordinates advocacy on behalf of member companies with respect to various environmental laws, regulations, policies, protocols and administration. In turn, our members contribute to an Irish economy that balances sustainable development and innovation with environmental protection in the most cost-effective manner.

We represent Ibec environment policy to policymakers and regulators including the Department of the Environment, the Environmental Protection Agency, the European Commission and various local authorities.

In addition to our policy work, we also provide additional services to member companies such as environmental legislation updates.

How we develop environment policy
Ibec's Environment Policy Committee (EPC) meets quarterly and tracks environmental policy and regulatory developments at national, European and international level which may impact on the business community. The focus of the EPC is to ensure the achievement of environmental objectives in a manner that supports the competitiveness of Irish business. The EPC currently has three Working Groups covering resource efficiency, water and regulatory affairs.
